Under supervision and direction of the Dean of the College of Science & Health, the Assistant Dean for External Relations will: represent the College to external parties, including business leaders, government leaders, philanthropists, and educators; build excellent public relations with local, regional, national, and international businesses, educational institutions, government entities, and other appropriate organizations; coordinate college-level interactions and presentations with external science and health experts and leaders in business, government, and education; represent the dean at various functions within the University and in the community; contribute as an integral member of the College leadership by providing and critiquing input on strategic directions; work within the framework of a development plan to support College initiatives; and work with the dean and dean's staff to establish appropriate development priorities.
Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
-Develop a base of support for the College of Science & Health with business, industry, government, and educational partners.
-Add to the network of supporters of the College of Science & Health, and make appropriate introductions to the dean, faculty, and other representatives of the University.
-Work with industry leaders to assess employment trends.
-Engage in appropriate community and professional organizations and events to bring positive attention to the College and University.
-Provide management support to key programs, especially those requiring interaction with external organizations.
-Coordinate public outreach activities, including student recruitment, public education, and other outreach functions.
-Develop and maintain a list of College alumni for efficient communication.
-Organize and build leadership of the College of Science & Health Advisory Board.
-With collaboration of College leadership, direct the preparation and implementation of an approved development plan for the College of Science & Health.
-Work collaboratively with appropriate individuals and organizations at UVU to achieve the goals of the College and of the University.
-Travel as assigned to represent the College at various functions around the country, likewise represent the dean internally as assigned at various community events and functions.
-Work University-wide to provide leadership development for department chairs, and to provide consulting support to campus-wide initiatives.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
