Teaches a course in the American Sign Language program.
Bachelor’s in ASL or related field with 20+ earned credits in ASL. Minimum 3 years teaching experience. Native or near-native fluency in ASL. 1 o more current memberships with ASLTA and/or NAD and/or RID. Regularly earned continuing education units (CEUs) in field of ASL.
Willingness to learn and/or have experience in the use of instructional technologies to teach traditional, hybrid and/or distance learning classes, and /or as a supplement
Knowledge and skills in a variety of computer usage and software applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Master’s degree in Education, Deaf Education, Special Education or Interpreting. Current certification of ASLTA, NAD V and/or RID (i.e. CDI-P, CI, CT, CI/CT or NIC). Experience with ASL curriculum/course development.
In lieu of degree, candidate may be considered when meeting the following criteria: 10+ years experience of ASL college-level teaching and research within the field. 35+ earned credits at college-leve; continuing to pursue minimum degree qualifications. Native or near-native fluency in ASL. Professional participation in field of ASL (i.e. seminar/
workshop presenter, ASL mentoring, ASL tutoring, interpreting, state and/or national board service with ASLTA, NAD or RID). Regularly earned continuing education units (CEUs) in field of ASL. 1 or more current memberships with ASLTA and/or NAD and/or RID.

This is a part-time (adjunct) faculty position. Part-time faculty are compensated at a rate of $811 per Equated Semester Unit (i.e., approximately $2433 for a 3 credit hour course).
Adjunct faculty positions are ongoing pooled positions. Therefore, your materials will remain on file and be reviewed on an as needed basis for adjunct faculty positions throughout the academic year 2012-2013 (Fall, Spring and Summer Semester).
