The University of Mary Hardin Baylor’s College of Education seeks Assistant / Associate Professor for its Department of Exercise and Sport Science beginning in August of 2012. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.
The Exercise & Sport Science Department in the College of Education offers five undergraduate degree programs which include EC-12 Physical Education teacher certification, Sport Management, Pre-Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, and Exercise Science. The Department also offers a Master of Science Degree in Exercise Science.
Faculty Responsibilities: Activities required of all faculty include curriculum development; applied research; student recruitment and advising; professional/instruction development; and service to department college, university and the community. UMHB places emphasis upon teaching and academic research.
EXSS Professor's Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise and sport science and related subjects. Full-time faculty members typically teach 12 hours per semester with three course preparations.
Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Exercise & Sport Science or related field and demonstrated success in university teaching required. Master’s Degree and special licenses and/or certifications (Athletic Training) will be considered. Tenure track requires terminal degree in hand. Excellent teaching and communication skills; and a commitment to scholarly research and enhancement of quality education. Must demonstrate ability to teach across departmental disciplines. Must be active, committed Christian.
