Detailed Job Description

The Instructional Specialist for mechatronics will support the National STEM Consortium TAA grant. This person will manage the coordination and implementation of grant activities for the Mechatronics program. The Instructional Specialist will be responsible for program scheduling, recruitment, mentoring, orientation and industry outreach. In addition to the program support of the Mechatronics program, the Instructional Specialist will provide high quality instruction associated with the mechatronics program at Anne Arundel Community College. Instruction will primarily be classroom and lab, but may include hybrid or distance, as the program develops. In addition to instructional responsibilities, the Instructional Specialist will have a major role in curriculum development, assessment strategies, outcomes measurement, and grant deliverables for the mechatronics program.  

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field required.

Industry technology certifications such as Associate Electronic Technician (CETa), Cisco Certified Networking Associates Certification (CCNA) preferred.

Industry experience in Mechatronics, Siemens PLCs, and Electro-Mechanical Systems preferred.

Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)/Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming preferred.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to make presentations.

Strong human relations skills, including the ability to function effectively and tactfully with diverse populations such as students, administrators, faculty, staff, and the public.
