The Post Award Financial Manager partners with the Principal Investigator (PI), Department Administrator (DA) and Finance Management in order to ensure that sponsored project activity is meeting Institutional goals and requirements.


This involves, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Continuous monitoring of sponsored projects to ensure personnel and OTPS expenses are charged timely and accurately.
  • Highlight projects that are expiring to help make PI’s/DA’s aware of any changes that should be made in advance of project period end dates.
  • Assist in prevention of deficit spending and work with PI and DA on appropriate resolution if deficits exist on sponsored projects.
  • Ensure subcontract invoices are set up and paid timely.
  • Perform Pre-Review on Effort certifications and coordinate with PIs for timely certifications.
  • Perform Labor Redistributions (cost transfers) per Department Administrator’s direction.
  • Liasion with pre award office and assist with any questions.
  • Prepares and approves journal vouchers.
  • Prepares all OTPS cost transfers per Department Administrator’s direction.
  • Analyze and reports all assigned Federal, Non-Federal grants and contracts (including preparing invoices)
  • Ensure all expenditures reported are in compliance with regulations and guidelines put forth by Federal and Non-Federal sponsors, specifically reviewing for unallowable costs.
  • Ensure all expenditures reported are in compliance with Yeshiva University policies and procedures.
  • Preparation of internal and final Federal Financial Reports (FFR) as required by the Sponsor for review by Finance and Departmental Administrator.
  • Research and report to finance and Departmental Administrator any issues reported on general ledger (e.g. accurate budget, budget period, project period, facilities and administration rate, recording of expenditure and income)
  • Special Projects as needed.

  • Must have Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance or Economics
  • Post-Graduate Degree preferred
  • Years of Experience: 1 - 3 years

Key Skills

  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Strong familiarity with Sponsored Research Financial Regulations, such as; OMB Circulars A-21, A-110, A-133, FAR and NIH Grants Policy Statement.
  • MS Office Applications & Internet Usage, Project/Outlook.
  • Must conduct him/herself in a professional manner.
  • Should possess qualities of timeliness, respect and customer service.
