The Associate Vice president for Student Life/Dean of Students provides the vision and leadership in creating a positive experience for students. Develops partnerships with faculty, staff, departments, and administration in a collaborative and collegial manner to support the personal and academic development of students. Oversees the following departments: Student Health Services, Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution, Accessibility Services, Sorensen Student Center, Volunteer & Service Learning, Campus Recreation & Wellness, and Student Leadership & Involvement.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a terminal degree plus a minimum of five years of recent experience in a higher education strategic leadership role, including management of departments and programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree and seven to eight years of progressive experience in student affairs or a related field. Strong preference will be given to those individuals with an earned doctoral degree in student affairs administration or a related field and ten years of experience.

Knowledge

Knowledge of administrative organization, budgets, organizational planning and implementation.
Knowledge of student development, leadership, involvement, team building, and consensus building.
Knowledge of best practices in student life, involvement, and development.
Knowledge of student conduct and standards.
Knowledge of dispute resolution/mediation

Skills

Effective human relations skills, including communications, problem-solving, decision-making, and mediation.
Program assessment and evaluation skills.
Public speaking skills.
Event planning skills.
Leadership and motivation skills.

Abilities

Ability to manage division budgets.
Ability to seek alternative funding sources, including grants for assigned areas and programs.
Ability to direct and asses strategic planning and initiatives.
Ability to communicate and collaborate with internal and external constituencies to ensure quality services and programs for students and community members.

Pay Range

96,206 - 128,275 DOQ
