Responsible for assisting with the medical care of all student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics, assisting in developing, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive athletic training program, and assisting with the daily operation of the athletic training room. Travel is required.  


     Assist with the medical care of all student athletes, which includes coordinating the prevention, care, injury tracking, and rehabilitation of athletically related injuries sustained by student athletes.

    Assist with the daily operations of the athletic training room.
    Communicate with various constituents regarding the injury status of student athletes. Appropriate communication is guided by the policies and procedures of the athletic training room and the law.
    Assist in the administration of orthopedic medical screenings. Gather medical history, most recent physical examinations, insurance information, assumption of risk, consent forms, and other pertinent documents.
    Assist in the orientation of student-athletes and coaches regarding policies related to substance abuse, care and treatment of injuries, legal waivers, health and accident insurance, and other pertinent topics.
    Assist with providing training services to Club Sports and Athletic Camps.
    Maintain collaborative working relationships with administrators, coaches, athletic training staff members, and other campus affiliations.
    Fulfill administrative duties as assigned.

    Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the College  and its employees, and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (including, but not limited to, NCAA Bylaw, Article 11 and its requirement to report all athletically-related income and benefits from sources outside of SMC), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, and of the West Coast Conference as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Advise the Director of Athletics and Recreational Sports if you have reasonable cause to believe a violation has occurred or will occur, whether by employees or students.

Experience and Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  2. Current NATA Certification required.
  3. Current CPR Certification required
  4. One to three years of relevant experience.
  5. Proficiency with word-processing software and database management.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively communicate with a diverse community of student, faculty, coaches, administrators and staff.
  7. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion.
  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  9. Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel with various athletic teams.J.
  10. Understand and support the values and ideals of the Lasallian Tradition, Catholic,and liberal arts traditions.
