The Executive Vice Chancellor for Administration serves under the direction of the Chancellors for the general purpose of overseeing the operational, staffing, facilities, compliance and computing needs of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (Commission) and the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education (Council). The Executive Vice Chancellor for Administration also serves as the primary legislative and intergovernmental liaison for the Commission and the Council.
The primary responsibilities and the statutory duties include oversight of state-level student financial aid programs, the statewide network for telecomputing, higher education purchasing system, and to provide leadership within the areas of student services, finance and facilities, purchasing, human resources, research and technology, policy and planning and health sciences. Various administrative functions include policy tracking, guidance and implementation; communication with internal and external groups, and staff professional development activities. The Executive Vice Chancellor for Administration provides day-to-day management and administration of the internal operations of the Commission and Council.
Knowledge, skills and abilities: Successful candidate must possess broad knowledge of higher education principles, practices, issues and structures. Proven high-level administrative, management, financial, human resources, research, policy, planning and technology skills. Working knowledge and understanding of the legislative branch of state government. Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills required.
Education and experience: Terminal degree in higher education administration or a related field required. At least five years with preferably ten years of experience in complex higher education administration. An equivalent combination of postgraduate level degree attainment and eight to ten years of directly related experiences may be considered.
