Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking applicants for a 9-month, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of an Assistant Teaching Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice to begin Fall 2014. The Criminology and Criminal Justice Program offers a B.A. degree and an M.S. in Criminology and Professional Practice. The program is part of the School of Social Work housed in the new College for Public Health and Social Justice.
The School of Social Work is noted for its commitment to students, strong practice orientation, exemplary scholarship, and vision of social justice. Similarly, the Criminology and Criminal Justice Program emphasizes human justice and social justice in its view of offenders, crime victims, and criminal justice personnel. The Criminology and Criminal Justice Program is seeking a candidate whose area of expertise addresses an area of criminal justice (policing or law enforcement, probation and parole, corrections, or juvenile justice), although candidates with other specializations will be considered as long as they can contribute meaningfully to the Program's teaching needs. The successful candidate will have a strong record of excellence in teaching. Responsibilities include professional service and teaching undergraduate and graduate students. Ph.D. or ABD is preferred, but an applicant who holds an M.A./M.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice and who has substantial professional experience in a related field will be considered.
