Detailed Job Description

Department of Medical Sciences at the Frank H. Netter MD, School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University seeks applicants for a full-time faculty position in pathology beginning on July 1, 2014. Successful candidate will be expected to teach pathology broadly across the curriculum to medical students and work with a team of medical educators from other basic science disciplines to develop instructional materials and to teach effectively.  Initial appointment is for a three year term and may be renewed.

The Frank H Netter MD School of Medicine admitted its inaugural class of medical students in August 2013. The school was founded with the aim of educating  diverse, patient centered physicians who are partners and leaders in an interprofessional primary care workforce.  In the near future our primary care mission will expand to include rehabilitative medicine and global public health. Our innovative integrated curriculum focuses on student –centered, active and engaged instructional excellence.

Primary duties of this position include instruction to medical students in pathology, pathophysiology, histopathology, and laboratory medicine in the lecture hall, laboratory, small groups, and at clinical sites. The successful candidate will develop, coordinate, integrate, and deliver curricular materials independently and in collaboration with other faculty members. Incumbent is expected to advise and mentor medical students regarding academic, curricular, capstone project, and career matters.  Additional specific responsibilities include active scholarly activity, service on committees, and other duties as negotiated and assigned.

Qualifications & Special Instructions to Applicants

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications for this position include an MD or MD/PhD with board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology and relevant teaching experience in a school of medicine. Successful candidate must present evidence of an established record of, or demonstrate a strong potential for, effective teaching; potential for productive scholarly and creative activity; and, commitment work productively in an interprofessional team.
