Detailed Job Description

The School of Education at Quinnipiac University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the Masters of Arts in Teaching Program, beginning August, 2012.

Job Duties

The primary responsibility of the position will be to teach math education to elementary teacher candidates, as well as provide expertise in an additional content area, such as: literacy, educational technology, science education, ESL, or special education. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with faculty in the School of Education on program and curriculum development; advise and mentor teacher candidates at the graduate and undergraduate levels; maintain an active research agenda; and actively participate in service activities at the school or university level, as well as within the local education community.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Position requires an earned doctorate in math education by date of appointment; a demonstrated record of potential for scholarship; evidence of excellence in teaching for at least three years at the elementary level; strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with others toward common goals; and a commitment to multicultural education and social justice.

Desired Minimum Qualifications

Additional desired qualifications include: demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in one (or more) of the following areas of elementary teacher education: literacy, educational technology, science education, ESL, or special education; evidence of knowledge of current and best teaching practices at the elementary level, including the effective use of technology in the teaching-learning process; experience working with teacher candidates at the university level, in courses as well as in field placement settings; and experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate teacher candidates.
