Meadville Lombard Theological School [Unitarian Universalist], located in the South Loop of Chicago, is currently seeking a full-time Director of Recruitment and Admissions who will be a key player in the success of the educational program.

A graduate theological institution, Meadville Lombard is academically rigorous, spiritually grounded, unapologetically progressive and deeply committed to teaching and learning for social justice and transformation.  Meadville’s innovative education model is a low residency program grounded in service learning and a three year integrated internship.  Students travel to Chicago four times a year for learning convocations and intensives in addition to regular contact with faculty and students through a variety of standard technology formats, including social media.  The successful candidate must have competency in functioning in a multi-racial, multicultural and theologically diverse learning and work environment.

Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Director of Recruitment and Admissions is a full time 12 month exempt administrative position.  The Director is a key member of the Student Services staff and has close working relationships with students, alumni/ae, faculty, and staff of Meadville Lombard. 

Job Summary

The Director of Recruitment and Admissions will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment and admissions functions for Meadville Lombard Theological School. This position requires off-site travel.

The Director of Recruitment and Admissions is responsible for the planning, organizing, and execution of a macro graduate marketing and communications plan for recruitment and admissions. Working with the Dean of Students, the Director of Recruitment and Admissions oversees the establishment of application policies and procedures and coordinating the evaluation of applicants with the individual programs and faculty.  The Director is responsible for maximizing the recruitment of new students and the retention of existing students through the strategic use of institutional tuition reduction awards; recruitment at the UUA General Assembly and other venues; conducting Prospective Student Conferences; and working closely with the communications office to provide leadership in the development of all MLTS recruitment literature, the Web site and other marketing and advertising materials.  The Director is responsible for developing and managing the recruitment and admissions income and expenditure budgets.

The Director of Recruitment and Admissions position has no direct reports and as such requires the discipline and skills to work independently on a large range of tasks.

Qualifications

The Director of Recruitment and Admissions will possess a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) and have at least five years of experience in enrollment management, preferably graduate enrollment management, leading or assisting in managing and operating a highly successful office of admissions. Experience with the Blackbaud Education Edge software system is highly desirable. 

The Director of Recruitment and Admissions will have an understanding of contemporary marketing, recruitment and data base enrollment strategies.  He or she will be an effective planner and provide evidence of excellent organization and management skills.

The Director of Recruitment and Admissions will have excellent writing and speaking skills and genuinely enjoy practicing both.

The preferred candidate will be well organized, have strong and effective verbal, written, time management and organizational skills, and be able to multi-task and work effectively under pressure. This position requires someone who will exercise a high level of discretion; have the ability to deal with diverse groups of individuals and situations with a high degree of tact and good judgment. The ideal candidate should demonstrate computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and fluency with internet applications and a willingness to learn new applications.  Ability to function as a team player in a fast-paced environment, dependability, sense of humor and enthusiasm are essential.
