FULL-TIME DIRECTOR OF NORTHERN ESSEX COMMUNITY COLLEGE LIBRARIES:  Academic and Student Affairs (Non-Unit Professional) Reports to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. Anticipated start date July 1, 2014.

The Library Director is responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership and coordination of the Library’s programs, services and resources for two campus libraries. The Director advocates for and represents the library within the greater campus community and among external constituency groups. The Director works with faculty and administration to ensure that the library supports the institutional mission and strategic plan, meets the needs of individual programs, and grows resources to support curricular and information services innovation.  The Director develops and implements annual plans and budgets for the Library, and supervises its staff.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters of Library and Information Science degree from an ALA accredited program.  At least 5 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in an academic library. Demonstrated leadership and advocacy in an academic library position.  Demonstrated ability to develop library programs supportive of an increasingly mobile and technology enhanced environment.  Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills. Evidence of a commitment to professional development.  Ability to form strong coalitions with internal and external constituencies.

PREFERENCES: 

  • Experience in a community college library.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)


Salary: Anticipated starting salary $70,000.00 – $103,162.00 annually, commensurate with education and experience. With a complete fringe benefit package.
