Serving as an ambassador, the Director of Alumni Affairs is responsible for securing involvement and commitments from alumni to provide professional expertise and volunteer service; collaborating with colleagues in development, admissions, student affairs and public affairs; and our schools to create pathways for alumni participation that advances the goals of UMMC.

Position Summary:  Reporting to the Executive Director of Development and Alumni Affairs, the Director of Alumni Affairs is responsible for the planning, implementation and analysis of multiple programs and projects that strategically engage alumni and result in stronger programs and tangible benefits to alumni and current students.  

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations or related field and seven (7) years of related experience in a university or college setting, five (5) years at a leadership level.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and decision-making  skills
  • Ability to collaborate and lead both internal and external constituents
  • Successful annual fund fundraising skills
  • Demonstrated ability to strategize and build programs, including the ability to measure and analyze results and set appropriate outcomes 
  • Working knowledge of Raiser's Edge or a similar constituent database
  • High professional and ethical standards, including the handling of confidential information
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple high-performance tasks
  • Knowledge of the university community
  • Knowledge of setting up, organizing and conducting meetings
  • Ability to manage special events and work with volunteers
  • Ability to develop relationships with businesses and organizations, both locally and nationwide
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
  • Ability to create and maintain effective relationships on campus with students, parents, faculty, staff and administrators
