Detailed Job Description

The director will develop a clear strategic plan that will advance information services with new technological innovations. The director will plan all library operations including budget, personnel, collections, instruction, copyright, marketing, systems, and facilities. The director will foster inter-library cooperation with other Utah libraries. Service on university and professional committees expected.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution with a minimum five years of professional experience progressing toward the qualifications of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge

Strong understanding of library trends particularly with technology and digital collections.
Knowledge of current academic library practices and future trends, particularly related to technology.
Knowledge of budgeting and spending procedures.
Knowledge of personnel law and practices.
Knowledge of copyright and Interlibrary Loan issues.
Knowledge of web development and issues regarding online and distance education.
Knowledge of archives and special collections, particularly digital collections.
Knowledge of acquisition and cataloging procedures and trends, including e-books and digital collections.
Knowledge of current issues such as pedagogy, copyright, scholarly communication, and assessment.

Pay Range

$76,898 to $102,531
