Detailed Job Description

Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service is seeking candidates for a temporary non-tenure track position in public relations in the Department of Communication, for the 2014/2015 school year. Position would start August 2014. We invite applications from candidates who focus on the theory and practice of public relations.

Duties include a 4/4 teaching load that will include public relations courses in the department's advertising and public relations concentration (e.g., PR Writing, Integrated Communication Campaigns), courses in the department's undergraduate core, and a course release each semester for serving as the faculty adviser to the PRSSA chapter. Requirements: A master's and documented teaching experience and excellence, and an ability to build networks within the professional community. Additional consideration will be given to individuals who also have a record of professional experience.

Communication is a thriving department in the College of Arts and Sciences, with about 200 undergraduate majors, 40 minors, 15 M.A. students, and 18 full-time faculty members. We have an undergraduate curriculum that stresses both the theoretical understanding and professional application of communication research within five different concentrations: advertising/public relations; journalism and media studies; leadership, organizing, and relating; communication, culture, and community; and communication studies. Our masters' program emphasizes three areas of shared interests: culture and public dialogue, media studies, and organizational communication. The department has a Communication Media Center, Studio Production Suite, and several computer labs to support student learning related to technology and production
