This position is responsible for managing the campus Education Department by monitoring student performance, supervising and developing faculty, and overseeing all other aspects of the department on campus.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Monitoring Student Performance:
Responsible for managing overall student participation and communication with students and faculty in order to effectively implement improvement plans.
Monitors students' academic progress.
Conducts follow-ups on drops and tracks retention rate.
Responsible for the implementation and delivery of student advising and tutoring programs.
Conducts new student orientation.
Managing and Developing Faculty
Recruits, screens, and hires new faculty.
Conducts classroom observations.
Develops and implements new faculty orientation and on-going training programs.
Coordinates and/or conducts faculty meetings and in-service training.
Documents continuing education and professional development of faculty activities.
Provides leadership in all matters relating to education.
Ensures that students have the opportunity to meet the standards of
satisfactory academic progress, as mandated by the Department of Education.
Provides leadership to promote clear and consistent expectations, which focus on successful outcomes for students.
Provides input and implements curriculum.
Creates and updates master course syllabi, lesson plans, handouts, outlines for each class.
Conducts analysis of faculty evaluations per term.
Analyzes results and provides feedback reports for faculty and administration.
Posts requirements for academic certification (when applicable) to staff and faculty.
Involves the school with certification programs on an ongoing basis.
Requests and tracks faculty education background documentation as required.
Oversees the library.
Performs budget review per program.
Assists with drafting, implementing and monitoring the Institutional Effectiveness Plan.
When applicable, gathers all necessary data and edits the Self-Study.
Participates in all graduation ceremonies
Maintains compliance with accrediting and regulatory entities
Maintains current professional development
MUST HAVE 5 YEARS EXPERIENCE as an Academic Dean for a private post-secondary school.
Master's Degree required.
Ability to work well with students and faculty.
Ability to hire, train, inspire, lead and organize a team.
Local residents preferred.
Must have the ability to travel at periodic intervals throughout the year.
A minimum of 1-3 years of teaching experience is required
