The University of La Verne, in La Verne, California, is searching for an innovative and visionary leader to serve as the founding director for a physician assistant masters degree program.
The founding director will work closely with the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in the development and implementation of the new program. The University of La Verne is a 123-year old, independent, comprehensive, doctoral granting institution in southern California with a strong emphasis on academic excellence and an increasing commitment to research and publications. The main campus is located in La Verne, a small town of 34,000 people in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, east of Los Angeles. The program director will be responsible for achieving and maintaining program provisional accreditation. Reporting directly to the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, the program director will provide leadership for the academic program by facilitating the development of the curriculum and assisting faculty members in their teaching duties and development. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in management in a higher education setting, and must be either NCCPA or board-certified MD/DO. A current PA license is required. The ideal candidate will have documented academic PA program teaching experience as a principal program faculty, and at least five years clinical and/or academic experience as a PA or MD/DO.
The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of innovative and effective management in a higher education setting; thrive in an interdisciplinary collaborative environment of scholars; and embrace experiential learning and community engagement in the educational experience.
Must be either NCCPA, M.D., D.O., or appropriate doctorate preferred
Must be currently licensed or eligible for licensure in California
Must be able to be credentialed with our current health insurance plans
Documented teaching experience as a principal program faculty in academic MD, DO, or PA programs
Five years clinical and/or academic experience as a PA , MD, DO, and/or Ph.D.
