Duties and responsibilities. Reports to the Chancellor. Responsible for directing regional, sector-based workforce and Learn and Earn cooperative education development strategies for all institutions in the West Virginia Community and Technical College system under the West Virginia Bridging the Gap Consortium's Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant Program. The Workforce Development Coordinator will research and recommend policy and develop programs to improve sector-based workforce and cooperative education program development; organize and provide professional training and development to community college workforce staff about sector-based economic development strategies and developing cooperative education programs; organize and facilitate meetings between community colleges, employers, Workforce Investment Boards, non-profit groups and state agencies; and serve as lead contact and liaison for community and technical colleges and other state agencies in developing and executing sector-based workforce development strategies. The incumbent will coordinate activities and programs with the grant project manager to ensure accomplishment of and compliance with grant initiatives.
Knowledge, skills and abilities. Candidate must be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and understanding of workforce and economic development. Candidates must possess ability to organize and conduct training programs; conduct research on workforce needs; ability to manage projects; strong organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software; attention to detail; and ability to manage competing demands.
Education and experience. Position requires Bachelors in Business, Economics, Engineering or related technical field and five years experience in development and delivery of training programs, or related types of work; OR a Master's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or other technical field with three years of described experience. However, any acceptable combination of education, knowledge, and experience that provides the applicant with requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Salary. Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
