Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit Institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking applicants for a one year, non-tenure-track, visiting temporary position in Applied Linguistics in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, beginning fall 2014. The position is at the level of Assistant Professor. Ph.D. in hand by May 2014 required. Candidates should demonstrate successful teaching experience at the university level and show initial scholarly achievement. Native or near-native fluency required in both English and Spanish. The successful candidate will specialize in second language acquisition and one or more of the following: Spanish linguistics, Spanish sociolinguistics, Spanish for specific purposes (medical, business Spanish), Translation and / or Computer-assisted language learning. He or she will be responsible for teaching a variety of undergraduate courses including beginning and intermediate Spanish language courses and advanced undergraduate Spanish courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Teaching load for a Visiting Professor is 3/3. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
