The Associate Director of IT Application Services is responsible for providing leadership in Application Services maintenance/development, database administration, and data warehousing needs within the scope of the Banner Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and the associated applications in support of employees and students across the campus. This position is a lead in prioritizing and managing workload for Application Services personnel. This position provides advice, recommendations, and general support to the Director of ITS Application Services. In addition, this position will work closely with functional areas from across the University to guide strategic planning.
(20%) Assist the Director: Support the Director of ITS Application Services with day-to- day operations, and be responsible for the entire unit during Director absences. Position is a key contributing member to the Director’s management team, participating in decision making processes involving the entire ITS Application Services area.
(20%) Budget Maintenance: Develop Scope of Work documents, Purchase Requisitions, and sole source documents; track invoices to PO’s and contracts; and assist in the annual budget development process.
(25%) Portfolio/Workload Management:
Manage University-wide requests for Banner and related system modifications and projects. Manage the ITS Application Services portfolio of tasks and projects, including consistent communication and coordination of priorities among various constituencies, including: the functional Directors, the Enterprise Systems subcommittee and Application Services. Record, triage, negotiate, prioritize, assign, organize and coordinate projects from beginning to end.
(10%) Critical Event Management: Provide leadership during critical events that directly or indirectly impacts the ERP environment, including: Coordinate with appropriate technical areas as necessary to resolve or mitigate the situation; coordinate required technical staff; and manage communications with users, various offices across the University and ITS personnel.
(15%) Design of application solutions:
Analyze vendor specifications, technical specifications, and associated documentation to determine methods for solving business problems, including: the ability to understand database design, processing logic, and functional reference manuals.
(5%) Testing: Develop testing plans for new processes and execute testing to provide appropriate feedback to Application Services personnel. Coordinate end user testing of new processes.
(5%) Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of combined lead experience in any of the following: Application Development and maintenance; Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence; and/or Database Administration.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Master’s degree in an IT related field;
- Technical experience with the Ellucian Banner ERP system and/or add-on components;
- Demonstrated portfolio management experience;
- Supervisory experience over IT technical personnel and functions;
- Demonstrated experience with complex, enterprise-wide IT projects;
