The Department of Biological Sciences at Quinnipiac University invites applications for the position of Director of the Molecular and Cell Biology Master’s Program beginning July 1, 2014. This position will provide oversight and vision for all aspects of the Program including, students, faculty, program development and future goals. The Director will develop and implement new strategies to ensure the success of the Program in changing educational landscape. Candidates must have expertise in the area of Cell and Molecular and must be able to teach any of the core MCB courses.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative with teaching responsibilities.
  • Work closely with the MCB Advisory Committee to achieve the goals of the Program. 
  • Review applicant files for admission.
  • Serve as the academic advisor for MCB students coordinating course offerings with student demand and promote innovate ways to foster success.
  • Serve as a member of all MCB Thesis Committees beginning with the Independent Study.
  • Plan, develop and manage new graduate courses (on-ground and on-line).
  • Develop and maintain MCB Program literature (Program Handbook, Thesis Manual and Comprehensive Exam Manual),
  • Design and administer the MCB Challenge Examinations and Comprehensive Examination.
  • Attend graduate Open House, Admitted Student’s Day and other Admission-sponsored events.
  • Provide Departmental representation at Graduate Graduation and Awards ceremonies.
  • Maintain the highest standards of excellence in teaching.
  • Demonstrate active contributions to committees or contributions to the Department, College of Arts and Sciences and University.

Qualifications & Special Instructions to Applicants

  • A PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology or closely related field is required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have a proven record of excellence in teaching university-level courses.
  • Previous experience in academic leadership roles.
