There are postdoctoral research fellow positions available in Dr. Song Liu’s Polymer Surface Engineering Lab at University of Manitoba (Winnipeg, Canada). Dr. Liu’s lab is newly renovated and equipped with brand new cutting-edge equipment such as an Anton Paar SurPASS surface zeta potential analyzer, a PerkinElmer elemental analyzer (CHNS), an automatic microwave-assisted synthesis system, a supercritical CO2 reactor equipped with a UV source, an automatic apparatus for Layer-by-Layer assembly, a plasma instrument, a quartz crystal microbalance, a spin coater and common organic/polymer chemistry laboratory equipment. Dr. Liu’s group has access to bacterial culture and cell culture facilities.
The positions involve research on the nano-encapsulation of novel highly effective broad-spectrum biocides synthesized in our lab1 for their responsive and targeted release into wound bed for effective eradication of planktonic bacteria and biofilm.
Applicants should be graduates in the fields of polymer chemistry, materials science or related disciplines. They should have previous extensive and sound skills in polymer chemistry and biological sciences.
