Saint Louis University, a Catholic Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, healthcare and service is recruiting applicants for a full-time post-doctoral fellow position in the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Department. The position is annually renewable dependent on outputs of research performance and research needs. The work involves the construction and testing of experimental prototypes related to unsteady flow studies in energy conversion equipment. For the initial twelve-month period responsibilities of the position include: the design, construction and testing of prototype motors, controllers and pumps; the design of experimental apparata related to flow studies in complex time-varying geometries with the use of high-speed video and other flow visualization techniques; and writing of research proposals and papers. The work will be performed in our optical access internal combustion engines test facility and our cardiovascular flow emulator lab.
Applicants should have a background in: development, construction and testing of prototype components related to energy conversion equipment in a size suitable for a small laboratory setting and academic research; conduct of flow visualization studies with experimental apparata; correlations of flow experiments with characteristics of flow fields; and related research fields. The post-doctoral fellow should be motivated for academic research and have a strong publication record. The post-doctoral fellow will coordinate aspects of several ongoing research projects in the labs and interact with a diverse, interdisciplinary and highly-productive research team.
