Detailed Job Description

As defined by Northern Kentucky University’s Diversity Plan, the Senior Advisor will provide leadership for Inclusive Excellence efforts across the breadth of the university, including:

 Chairing the President’s Campus Climate Team;

 Developing a core set of cultural competencies that will be engrained in the campus environment, including but not limited to curricular and co-curricular activities;

 Tracking and reporting progress toward diversity goals as outlined in the University Diversity Plan;

 Creating a method to coordinate inclusion efforts into campus planning processes;

 Assisting, when appropriate, the Affirmative Action Officer as an advisor for EEOC;

 Assisting, when appropriate, the Ombuds Service Office to investigate specific grievances concerning issues of inclusivity pertaining to students;

 Identifying and developing opportunities for diversity programming and training;

 Working with units to assist in marketing and communicating diversity-related goals and activities;

 Collaborating with the leaders of the Offices for African American, Latino, LGBTQ, Veterans, Disability Services, International Education and other student groups to integrate and enhance curricular and co-curricular opportunities;

 Collaborating with faculty in the development and assessment of curriculum related to Inclusive Excellence learning goals; and

 Serving as NKU’s representative to the Committee on Equal Opportunity.

In addition to the campus-wide responsibilities outlined by the Diversity Plan, the Senior Advisor will provide senior level leadership to enhance faculty and staff Inclusive Excellence initiatives, including:

 Collaborating with Human Resources to strengthen recruitment programs for faculty and staff;

 Supporting and contributing to studies of institutional needs and trends in areas related to faculty and staff inclusivity and 
disseminating findings to inform our efforts;

 Leading the design and deployment of faculty and staff development and mentoring programs that foster retention and career progression, institutional support structures for members of under-represented groups, and awareness of issues of equity and access; and

 Partnering with other offices to develop or contribute to cultural events that represent diverse traditions and experiences.

Minimum Qualifications
 Successful record of experience in advancing diversity,equity, and inclusive excellence at a higher education institution or other major organization;

 Master’s degree in appropriate field;

 Successful record of collaboration and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders; and

 Understanding of equal opportunity, affirmative action, and other compliance regulations.

Preferred Qualifications
 Terminal degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and

 Teaching experience and research productivity sufficient to warrant a faculty position, if desired.
