Detailed Job Description

Duties and responsibilities.  Reports to the Chancellor. Responsible for directing developmental education improvement efforts for all institutions in the West Virginia Community and Technical College system under the West Virginia Bridging the Gap Consortium's Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant Program.  The Developmental Education Coordinator will research and recommend policy and develop programs to improve retention and success for students in developmental education courses;  develop and provide professional training and development to developmental education instructors, academic advisers, registrars and financial aid staff; oversee and advise developmental education professionals in regard to grant and policy objectives for better meeting the needs of developmental education students; and conduct independent research and prepare resource documents to improve best practices in developmental education.  The incumbent will coordinate activities and programs with the grant project manager to ensure accomplishment of and compliance with with grant initiatives.

Knowledge, skills and abilities.   Candidates must possess ability to organize and conduct training programs; ability to coordinate and manage statewide projects; strong organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software; attention to detail; and ability to timely manage competing demands.

Education and experience.  Master's degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, English, Mathematics or related field required.  Terminal degree preferred.  Two years experience in instruction, including instructional planning and education research are required.  Experience teaching developmental education courses and project management experience preferred.

Salary.   Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
