                                    Three Year Grant Funded position -

Duties and responsibilities.  Reports to the Chancellor. Responsible for directing veteran's recruitment and retention strategies for all institutions in the West Virginia Community and Technical College system under the West Virginia Bridging the Gap Consortium's Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant Program.  The Veterans' Education Coordinator will research and recommend policy and develop programs to improve veteran's recruitment and retention;  organize and provide professional training and development to admissions and recruiting staff; advise student services professionals in regard to grant and policy objectives for better meeting the needs of veteran students; serve as lead contact and liaison for community and technical college veteran advocates and other state agencies to support veteran enrollment in community and technical colleges (CTCs);  provide support for job placement for veteran graduates of CTCs;  and work with employers to create and develop strategies to assist in hiring veterans.  The incumbent will coordinate activities and programs with the grant project manager to ensure accomplishment of and compliance with with grant initiatives.

Knowledge, skills and abilities.   Candidate must be able to demonstrate an in depth knowledge and understanding of GI Bill benefits and other veterans' benefits.  Candidates must possess ability to organize and conduct training programs; ability to manage projects; strong organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software; attention to detail; and ability to timely manage competing demands.

Education and experience.  Bachelor’s degree required.  (An Associate degree and two years military experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's requirement.)  Two years experience in higher education student services or military experience is required.   Military service in recruitment or training is strongly preferred.  A Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or Higher Education Administration is preferred.

Salary.   Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
