The University of California, Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources is seeking a Vice Provost of Cooperative Extension (CE) to be responsible for guiding all county based academic programs, serving as the statewide administrator for Cooperative Extension within the scope of UC and land grant university missions.  A key strength of UC ANR is its ability to integrate across the broad excellence of disciplines in the agricultural, environmental and human sciences in order to find sustainable solutions to complex societal problems. The incumbent will coordinate programs and priorities with Ag Experiment Station counterpart units and ensure ANR programs are relevant to UC ANR’s strategic vision and the people of California.

This position has a high degree of complexity and autonomy.  Experience in leading a large, complex, organization is essential including experience in management of multiple programs, personnel, and budgets.  Incumbent must have demonstrated exceptional organizational, people, and decision making skills.  Extensive state and national travel is required.

The Vice Provost for county based Cooperative Extension provides leadership and advocacy for a unified ANR program with a strong statewide, campus, and local presences. This is a programmatic leader for Division research and outreach activity and also serves as the administrative leader for county based Cooperative Extension programs. The incumbent integrates planning and delivery of programs at the statewide level and represents ANR regionally and nationally as delegated.

A minimum of a Ph.D. or other terminal degrees is required, in disciplines such as agriculture, natural resources or related human resources programs.  A minimum of five years of experience managing multi-disciplinary academic programs and the ability to analyze and interpret UC and Division policies and procedures are desirable.  Experience in ANR Cooperative Extension or a similar UC structure are desirable. 

Beginning salary will be in the UC Academic Administrator Series and commensurate with applicable experience and professional qualifications.  For information regarding the Academic Administrator salary scales, please refer to the University of California’s website, table 34:
