Detailed Job Description

The tenure track faculty member will teach in the Family Studies program, with special emphasis in Family Life Education Methodology, supervision of student internships, Marriage Relationship Skills, and any combination of the following courses: Family Dynamics and Systems Theory, Family Resource Management, Applied Parenting, Behavioral Science Ethics, Human Sexuality, Contemporary Families in Society, Life Span, Marriage and Family Therapy, Relationship Enhancement, Mediation, Family Law, and/or Psychology of Interpersonal Relations. The faculty member is expected to teach twelve credits per semester. Other faculty responsibilities include student advising, committee assignments, professional activities of research, presentation and publication, and program, school, and university and community service.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification for Tenure Track Faculty at Utah Valley University: Current CFLE. Ph.D. preferred, ABD or doctoral candidate considered. Teaching and research strengths should complement current departmental needs and strengthen the rigor and quality of the Family Studies program. Ability to articulate a diverse/multicultural perspective required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Excellence in teaching as demonstrated through effective instructional strategies and techniques.
- Effective interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a willingness to serve on committees.
- Scholastic currency, preferably evidenced by publications, presentations, and the promise of future scholarly productivity.
