OFFICIAL TITLE: Staff Assistant, University Training and Support Specialist

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Assistant Director, Multimedia Services

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Subordinate professional, classified, and student personnel assigned to the area.


  1. Responsible for training faculty and administration on various software and hardware usage.  This includes but is not limited to Blackboard and Colleague as well as other academic software, as well as understanding pedagogy.
  2. Responsible for training students on various software and hardware usage.  This includes but is not limited to Blackboard , Office, Google apps as well as other academic supported software.
  3. Responsible for proactively identifying Training needs & Academic classroom issues and work toward resolution. 
  4. Ensure communication with Academic Faculty members, about classroom issues, are updates as appropriate,
  5. Responsible for finding alternate sources of resolution as needed to ensure technology issues have as little impact on classes as possible.
  6. Assists in marketing new training materials and technologies as developed by UTS
  7. Shall demonstrate a knowledge of training and design application for use in developing training and support materials.
  8. May manage development projects from inception to completion.
  9. Consults with individual or groups of faculty on optimal training needs and/or programs and effective uses of multimedia for instruction.
  10. Assists in the design and production of learning objects in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation technologies to support online coursework and programs.
  11. Writes requirements documents.
  12. Review and maintain University Technology Service's document library of support materials.
  13. Perform other duties as directed
  14. All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning.
