Collaborates with department chairs and appropriate school committees, motivating faculty and staff to perform at levels consistent with accreditation and approval standards. Assumes leadership on behalf of the dean as needed. Contributes to the strategic planning of the school and guides department chairs and assigned committees to ensure implementation of strategic plans. Oversees graduate programs. Counsels with department chairs regarding promotions, tenure, performance evaluations, faculty workload assignments and reporting, faculty office assignments, guest lecturers, and related projects. Supports the joint missions of the college and school. Represents the school on assigned college committees. Assists with fundraising as needed. Supervises Information Technology team.
Facilitating the grant writing and administering process.
Managing faculty recruitment.
Other duties as assigned by the dean.
Master’s degree and four years of experience or a Bachelor’s degree and six years of experience. Additional education may substitute for experience.
Terminal degree in a business or a related field. Experience with assessment and accreditation is preferred. Familiarity with college (university) and school policies and procedures is preferred. Academic accomplishment sufficient for tenure in one of the School’s departments is preferred. Successful administrative experience is preferred.
Knowledge of university and college policies and procedures.
Must show evidence of being a team player and be skilled at developing positive working relationships with other departments and offices across campus.
Evidence of meeting critical deadlines, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

The associate dean will play a key role in the Woodbury School as part of a cohesive leadership team in setting strategic direction and facilitating the execution of the school’s strategy. Important aspects of the role include working with department chairs and school committees to meet strategic objectives and accreditation standards, overseeing graduate programs, contributing to strategic planning, working with chairs on personnel issues, representing the school on assigned university committees, assisting with fundraising as requested, facilitating the grant-writing process, managing faculty recruitment, representing the dean in his absence, and other duties as assigned by the dean.
The ideal candidate will hold a doctoral degree with an academic record sufficient for tenure in one of the school’s departments. While academic leadership experience is helpful, a demonstrable record of accomplishment in program building is key to success in this position. As a community-engaged school, evidence of community outreach is also important.
