Teaches undergraduate courses in Secondary Mathematics Education (content and methods courses) and Elementary Mathematics Education (content courses) as well as other lower-division mathematics courses as needed. Engages in scholarly work and remains active and current in mathematics education. Serves on committees and in other appointments which provide service to the department, college, university or community.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a terminal degree in a related academic field of study plus one year of teaching experience. Must have experience assessing student learning capabilities and learning styles and understand how to develop curriculum of assigned courses.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Ph.D. in mathematics education and a master’s degree in mathematics as well as at least three years’ experience in teaching K-12 mathematics.
Knowledge of current trends in mathematics education and curriculum.
Skilled in the teaching of mathematics and the preparation of teachers of mathematics.
Interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to evaluate effectively student performance and comprehension.
The ability to mentor or supervise mathematics education majors.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to engage in scholarly work.
Ability to serve effectively on committees and in other appointments that meet the needs of the department, college, university or community.
Ability to interact with students, staff, and other faculty members in a collegial and productive manner.
