Detailed Job Description

The Associate Vice President for eLearning & Academic Outreach leads Distance Education (online, live-interactive, hybrid courses and program), Extended Studies (off-campus programs and weekend college), and Community and Continuing Education (non-credit courses and CEUs). This position plays a key role in establishing the University’s vision and strategy for technology-delivered courses and programs, and expansion of online and off-campus programs. This position also provides leadership in all areas, supervises administrative and support staff, and manages the budgets. This position reports to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and is a member of the Academic Affairs Council.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a doctorate degree plus five years of recent experience in a higher education strategic leadership role, including management of departments and programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a doctorate degree in Education Technology, higher education, or a related field. Five years of recent experience in leadership roles overseeing distance learning in higher education. Instructional design expertise in an adult or higher education role. Online teaching experience in a two-year and/or four-year college or university. Strategic leadership, management, and planning experience. Demonstrated experience in distance learning program evaluation strategies and models.

Supervise and evaluate personnel and complete all associated personnel actions in a timely and accurate manner including job descriptions and duties. Maintain knowledge of the organizational characteristics unique to public institutions of higher learning.
Interact and contribute effectively within the specialized decision-making processes inherent in a publicly assisted university. Maintain knowledge of university curriculum.
