Detailed Job Description

The candidate will be a vital member of the Sport Industry Operations (SIO) faculty and be required to follow all tenure-track faculty responsibilities described in the MSCD Faculty Trustees Handbook.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1) teaching 12 credit hours per semester related to the SIO curriculum;
2) supervising SIO field experiences and/or internships;
3) networking and marketing the SIO program in the greater Denver area, nationally, and internationally;
4) advising students;
5) performing academic service to the department, school, college and community; and
6) engaging in scholarly activities appropriate to the discipline.

The candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.

Teaching is the act of creating and maintaining an environment which enhances the opportunities for student learning and discipline-related growth; it includes advising students to facilitate graduation and to transition to post-baccalaureate careers or further educational opportunities.

Scholarly Activities:
Scholarly and creative activities are disciplinary or interdisciplinary expressions or interpretations that develop ideas, frame questions, create new forms of representation, solve problems, or explore enduring puzzles.

Service is participation in the shared governance of the academy and the use of disciplinary or professional expertise and talents to contribute to the betterment of multiple environments, including professional and disciplinary associations, or non-profit and governmental agencies.

Other Duties:
Faculty engaged in other duties, including faculty on reassigned time to serve in roles such as Department Chairs or Directors, will be reviewed on those activities.

Required Qualifications

All but dissertation completed in the Sport Industry Operations/Management or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in the Sport Industry Operations/Management or related field. Higher education teaching experience and experience in accreditation and curriculum development. Applicants with demonstrated experience in the recruitment and/or retention of underserved students, including students of color, preferred.
