Detailed Job Description

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Academic Programs, this position involves articulating and implementing a vision for UVU’s community college mission, strengthening current practices, identifying new directions, providing visibility for and advancing the purpose of a community college, advocating for community college issues, and facilitating solutions and innovations through coordination with campus, local, regional, and statewide communities. This position is also responsible for special projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Academic Programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a Master degree in a directly related field, plus four years of experience related to the essential functions/duties of the position is preferred; or an bachelor’s degree, plus six years of experience related to the essential functions/duties of the position; or any combination of higher education and/or experience related to the essential functions/duties totaling ten years is acceptable.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD/EdD preferred, in community college administration, a community college discipline, or a closely related area from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent.

Knowledge

Comprehensive and current knowledge of the mission, structure, programs, trends, development, and challenges facing community colleges nationally.
Comprehensive and current knowledge of the duties, responsibilities, and functions of Concurrent Enrollment and Career and Technical Education.Comprehensive knowledge of national, state, and local government educational and workforce demands and goals.
Comprehensive knowledge of state and local government educational demands and goals.

Skills

Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team-oriented environment with various institutional units to plan, implement, and evaluate practices and procedures.

Abilities

Demonstrated understanding of lines of authority related to areas of responsibility, recognition of the need to coordinate activities through appropriate supervisory levels, ability to take direction and consult within designated lines of authority, and closely coordinate proposed directions and activities through these channels.
Proven ability to work closely with direct supervisor to identify and develop strategic plans, goals, and innovations in a collaborative, team-oriented way.
Demonstrated ability to apply strong management, communication, and organizational skills to advance the mission of community college programs.
Ability to translate university mission and priorities into strategic and operational plans for community college programs in collaboration with other university entities.

Pay Range

$55,384 to $73,486
