The Engineering and Physical Science Department at St. Ambrose University seeks a committed, energetic faculty member for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant professor level beginning August 2014 with salary commensurate with qualifications. Post Ph.D. academic experience is highly desirable. The successful individual will be highly motivated to assist with program development, including curriculum, course delivery, physical laboratories, and assessment in preparation for ABET accreditation for mechanical engineering in a department that already has ABET accreditation for Industrial Engineering program. Qualified applicants will possess a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering OR Engineering, an exceptional commitment to student learning with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Industry experience is preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a wide range of courses within the department but primarily responsible for developing and teaching courses in machine design, manufacturing processes, engineering measurements and instrumentation, robotics and control theory. Teaching evening courses will occasionally be required. Additional responsibilities of this position include advising undergraduate students, continued professional development, scholarly engagement, university service, outreach and the program’s development.
