Detailed Job Description

Position Description: We are seeking a versatile and motivated technical/functional Programmer Analyst with Ellucian (Datatel) Colleague experience. Reporting to the Dean of Enrollment Services and LifeMap and working closely with the Technical Support Services Department, the Programmer Analyst will work as an integral member of the Enrollment Services team to develop LifeMap, online services, virtual advising, and other technological resources that support LifeMap integration and student success. The Programmer Analyst will continue with the College following the ending of grant funding to ensure that the systems developed are fully integrated with College systems for maximum effectiveness and to continue enhancing systems to support Enrollment Services and LifeMap.

  • Manage all Enrollment Services and LifeMap technological systems development, implementation and maintenance, including the design and programming of BHCC LifeMap online services and the integration of systems with Datatel
  • Develop reports, extracts and interfaces.
  • Work closely with the College IT department in technology solutions and integration.
  • Understand basic Datatel component architecture relationship with data (table structures) and key touch points between modules.
  • Understand available Datatel functionality. Advise on solutions while working closely with IT staff to understand impact on overall system.
  • In consultation with managers and end users, evaluate and recommend software solutions while establishing and maintaining third-party vendor relationships.
  • Provide end user instruction, support and troubleshooting to implement systems and to resolve application issues.
  • Maintain current understanding of all relevant software and hardware, including necessary data interfaces.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation and training materials.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or equivalent area of study
  • 5+ years of applications systems development experience
  • Experience with Ellucian/Datatel Colleague system
  • Experience successfully integrating technology
  • Development experience with Envision and Unidata
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in computer science or equivalent area of study
  • Familiarity with .NET framework and Sharepoint helpful
  • SQL preferred

Salary: $82,000.00/yr.
