Responsible for managing the college-wide operations for learning resource acquisitions and library cataloging. Leads the library technical services team to ensure campus libraries receive needed learning resources to support collection development. Oversees and provides original and copy cataloging services college-wide. Provides expert guidance to library staff in identifying, acquiring, cataloging and accessing a variety of learning resources.
Primary Work Location
1. Master's degree [required] in Library Science from an ALA accredited college or university. 2. Work experience in a library [required]. Academic library experience preferred. 3. Work experience in library acquisitions/serials and cataloging in Library of Congress preferred. 4. Supervisory experience preferred. 5. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Knowledge of academic library cataloging and Library of Congress classification system, tools, and methodologies. 2. Knowledge of electronic library and learning resources, including emerging technology trends. 3. Knowledge of library operations and management principles. 4. Skill in the use of personal computers, general office software, integrated library systems and databases. 5. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. 6. Ability to analyze data and workflow processes, address concerns, and implement improvements as needed. 7. Ability to attend to detail and perform quality control for acquisitions and cataloging processes. 8. Ability to perform related research, communicate technical information to a variety of audiences, and prepare reports as needed. 9. Ability to lead, coach, train and supervise employees. 10. Ability to travel between campus locations as needed. 13. Ability to lift and carry learning resources materials of up to 20 pounds. 14. Essential Job Functions
1. Collaborates with librarians college-wide to develop selection, acquisition and cataloging procedures, which facilitate the college-wide collection development guidelines and promote access to resources. 2. Manages bibliographic records for college learning resources. Oversees cataloging processes and performs original cataloging and related quality control. 3. Manages the acquisitions process for learning resources. Coordinates and maintains acquisitions budget and provides reports on expenditures and usage of college assets. 4. Performs related quality control for bibliographic records, cataloging activities, inventory and purchasing. 5. Provides expert cataloging interpretation and follows AACR2, RDA, MARC, OCLC and Library of Congress guidelines in cataloging and classifying learning resources. 6. Consults with campus libraries to resolve cataloging and database concerns, identifies trends in bibliographic services, discusses options for handling learning resources, and supports collection development. 7. Manages staff in a collaborative environment, including developing, coaching and evaluating employees. Provides staff with training and technical guidance as needed. 8. Develops policies, procedures and guidelines for cataloging and acquisitions operations. Provides college-wide training on related issues, as needed. Provides feedback regarding any proposed revisions to the college library collection development procedures. 9. Analyzes operational data and workflow processes and prepares related reports. Identifies and implements process improvements in collaboration with the Campus Deans of Learning Support. 10. Researches and recommends new technologies to help improve productivity and efficiency. Troubleshoots related technical problems and recommends solutions. 11. Networks and coordinates with vendors, other libraries, Florida Virtual Campus and related entities. 12. Performs other duties as assigned.
