Assistant Professor – Statistics Job Announcement
The Department of Mathematics at Utah Valley University invites qualified individuals to apply for a tenure-track position as an assistant professor of statistics starting August 2014. Duties include teaching lower-and upper- division statistics courses as well as mathematics courses as required. The teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Applicants should have an engaging and effective teaching style and should also pursue scholarly activities. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in statistics by August, 2014. In addition to serving on committees in the department and the university, the candidate will serve as a consulting statistician at the Office of Academic Research Support in order to facilitate statistical data analysis for other professors and students in the university. The main campus of Utah Valley University is located in Orem. It is a rapidly growing institution which primarily emphasizes undergraduate education. The application material should include a current CV, a statement of teaching and scholarship, three letters of recommendation and recent transcripts. Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctorate degree in Mathematics or Statistics is required. Must have experience assessing student learning capabilities and learning styles and understand how to develop curriculum of assigned courses.
