Detailed Job Description

Under the supervision of the Associate Athletic Director – External Affairs the Director Marketing and Promotion – AVP Athletics will: create and implement a comprehensive marketing and promotional plan; plan, coordinate and implement event and game operations; manage, coordinate and coach interns and work study students interested in sports marketing; assist in securing, managing, and fulfilling corporate partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution plus one year of experience in a directly related field or equivalent education and/or experience totaling five years of related experience.


Knowledge of Athletics NCAA DI technical writing procedures.
Knowledge of general marketing practices.
Knowledge with the regulations governing. intercollegiate athletics as set forth by the NCAA.


Skill in developing fund raising, advertising, and marketing promotions.
Skill in computers and computer software applications.


Ability to manage a set budget as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director over Marketing and Promotions.
Ability to recruit, train, and supervise assistant help in athletic marketing field.
Ability to coordinate effectively with various campus constituencies.
Ability to work with people in public relations settings.
Ability to plan, organize and problem solve.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group and individuals.
Ability to direct and supervise marketing plans for various sporting programs.
Ability to uphold and abide by all NCAA regulations and Utah Valley University institutional policies and procedures.
Ability to interact and communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
