Devises and executes a strategic public and media relations program that reinforces the UVU brand and raises the institution’s profile. Writes and manages editorial and public relations-related content for a variety of media and platforms to advance the University’s mission. Interfaces with the news media to tell the UVU story.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution plus one year of experience in a directly related field or equivalent education and/or experience totaling five years of related experience.
Strong knowledge of best strategic public relations concepts and practices, with preference for experience in a higher education setting.
Strong knowledge of and experience working with news media.
Excellent written and verbal communication, versatile writer and strong copy editing skills.
Skill at tailoring writing for search engine optimization (SEO).
Demonstrated media relations skills and leadership skills.
Excellent organization and time-management skills.
Ability to think strategically and to analyze data and trends in order to make decisions.
Ability to manage sensitive information and issues and represent the University professionally and expertly in working with media outlets.
Ability to thrive under pressure and to lead people and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to build rapport and lead collaborative projects across internal departments, divisions and among external constituents.
