Georgetown University seeks applicants for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Theater and Performance Studies. We welcome candidates in any of the following areas: community-based performance; performance ethnography; visual culture or design; multicultural performance; American or world theater/performance; playwriting, and new work development. We seek candidates who can bring research, teaching and/or production strengths, and we welcome candidates whose research informs their theater practice, or vice-versa. We also seek candidates whose service and leadership skills will assist in the development of a vital, fast-growing liberal arts major that highlights artistic and analytic rigor and forges interdisciplinary
connections. Teaching will include a balance of undergraduate core courses and special topics in the candidate’s area/s of expertise. This faculty member will play an important role in student advisement and the Theater & Performance Studies Program’s home production season in the Royden B. Davis S.J. Performing Arts Center. We anticipate this hire may participate in our partnerships with area communities as well as professional theaters, depending on the candidate’s areas of expertise.
