Business Law/Business Assistant Professor
Sacramento City College is an urban college in a park-like setting located in the heart of the Sacramento metropolitan area. The College is a learning center for approximately 24,000 day and evening students. Founded in 1916, Sacramento City College is a place of tradition and history, with a vitality and diversity that is contemporary. The College consists of a main campus and outreach centers in Davis and West Sacramento. Classes are offered seven days a week, both day and evening. The faculty and staff of Sacramento City College value a humanistic approach to learning, teaching, and working together in a diverse community. The college is a part of the Los Rios Community College District and uses an interest based approach to dispute resolution.
The Instructional assignment will consist of courses in the Business Law and Business programs. A typical semester will generally require teaching five courses with no more than three course topics. The primary instructional responsibilities will usually include Business Law, Law and Society, and may include classes such as, Introduction to Business, Small Business Management, and Concepts in Personal Finance. Secondary instructional responsibilities may include courses related to legal paraprofessional training, Customer Service, Insurance, and Business Math. The faculty member may be expected to assist in the development and growth of new programs. The faculty member will be expected to be actively involved in program evaluation and curriculum development, establishing job contacts, and providing assistance to students in their employment goals. Modes of instruction will include face-to-face, online and hybrid. The instructional assignment will require teaching both on campus and at one or more of the college's outreach centers and may require teaching at multiple off-campus locations. Teaching assignment may include day, evening, on-line, hybrid, weekend, and/or off campus classes.
The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; maintaining thorough and up-to-date knowledge in his/her regular teaching field; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with curriculum and articulation studies; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty as outlined in the college faculty handbook.

1. Have a master's degree from an accredited institution in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing, or business education completed by August 21, 2014; OR, bachelor's in any of the above AND master's in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B). degree; OR, bachelor's in economics with a business emphasis AND a master's in personnel management, public administration, or J.D. or LL.B. degree; OR, hold a California Community College Instructor's Credential in the discipline area; OR the equivalent.*
2. Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles.

Additional Salary Information:
Entering annual salary within a given range varies, depending upon units and degrees completed at accredited colleges/universities and on verified experience. Additional earnings may be available for summer, overloads, and stipends.
