The modern, knowledge-based and digital economy is fundamentally transforming organizations, teams, communities, as well as business ecosystems. Innovation and value creation have become boundary spanning phenomena in which a variety of actors co-create novel products, services, processes, and business models. In light of these changes, contemporary leaders and decision makers require a deep understanding of the management practices, policies, and infrastructure that are required to establish and a competitive advantage in today’s economy and how  technology is a driver of new products, services, business models and public policies.

To build a new interdisciplinary practice focused on tackling the changing nature of technology and innovation leadership, the Department of Technology Leadership & Innovation (TLI) at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position beginning Fall 2014. We expect to hire a candidate at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The position involves scholarship in research, teaching, and engagement as is required for tenure and promotion rank.

The qualified candidate is expected to have foundational skills and expertise in areas such as Strategic Leadership and Organizational Change with a particular emphasis on technology-intensive environments. Preference will be given to candidates who show the potential to shape a new field of interdisciplinary research and education at the intersection of fields such as strategy and innovation, information systems, design engineering, and public policy. Potential areas of research include but are not restricted to strategic leadership and governance related to innovation ecosystems, open and collaborative innovation, virtual teams and social media, analytics and human decision making, or business model innovation.  Candidates will have earned a doctorate degree in a relevant discipline related to the above areas. Evidence of high quality research in a relevant field commensurate with stage of academic career is required. The successful candidate will be expected to provide demonstrated excellence in teaching and maintain a high level of professional engagement, as well as demonstrating an active program of scholarship resulting in peer-reviewed publications in top listed journals.
