Job Responsibilities

• Provide all levels of management with useful and accurate financial information on a timely basis via verbal communication or written documentation;
• Perform quantitative analysis to assist management in reviewing/resolving business issues and improving overall accuracy/efficiency;
• Assist with, prepare, and/or present documentation for annual audit and any internal or external audits, reviews and site visits;
• Partner with College stakeholders to understand their underlying business practices to insure that appropriate internal controls are in place and that business activity is recorded in accordance with GAAP;
• Ensure the accuracy of information through monthly analysis and reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts and variance research for related income statement accounts;
• Identify and resolve any issues or reconciling items related to general ledger balance sheet accounts;
• Input and maintain appropriate information in the Banner accounting system module and other business systems in the department. Recommend and/or assist with implementation of enhancements and conversions;
• Prepare support schedules and other analyses as needed for the long-range plan, including projections of revenues and expenses;
• Track and reconcile activity with external partners, including Barnes and Noble and Regional Transit Authority;
• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries to accounts, such as accruals, corrections, charge backs, redistributions and other standard entries;
• Review of unrestricted funds, as well as high-level reviews of all College funds;
• Participate in training with regard to College policies and procedures; and
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree;
• Three years of experience in financial and/or management analysis and reporting;

• Familiarity with and knowledge of how to access and apply guidelines for Generally Accepted accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and relevant Office of Management & Budget (OMB) Circulars;
• Ability to perform accounting functions;
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
• Good communication skills;
• Skills in keyboarding, basic grammar, and intermediate level skills in word processing (MS Word) and spreadsheet applications (MS Excel); and
• Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or an Information Technology related discipline; Experience with SCT Banner; and
• Accounting experience in higher education, fund accounting, and/or externally funded projects

• Proficiency in database applications (MS Access);
• Excellent analytical skills, excellent problem solving skills, abilities to grasp and understand business systems particular to the higher education industry

Work Schedule

Standard college hours of business Monday through Friday, 8:30AM – 5PM.
