The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Stonehill College invites applicants for an assistant professor, term-renewable appointment in Graphic Design to begin July 2014. This person would join a department of nine full-time faculty with a wide range of disciplinary expertise and a commitment to fostering diversity among faculty and students.
We seek applicants who are committed to excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduates in Graphic Design, and who have a demonstrated awareness of the importance of diversity in education. We are particularly interested in candidates who approach Graphic Design with expertise in all forms of screen based design.
The position involves teaching and advising undergraduates, supervising the graphic design studio, and curriculum development. Primary teaching duties include: entry-level topics in graphic design and upper level topics in e-publishing, website design, screen based design, interactive design, responsive design, experiential design, and 2D and 3D animation. Video production and video editing is also desirable. Mastery of the following software skills is essential: Adobe Master Creative Suite 6 (especially In Design, Dreamweaver, Muse, After Effects), HTML5, CSS3. Also desirable is expertise in Adobe’s Audition, Premiere, Edge Animate as well as WordPress and Drupal.
Candidates must hold a MFA in Graphic Design or related fields and have at least two years undergraduate teaching experience beyond graduate school.
