The Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Metropolitan State University of Denver, is seeking applications for one tenure-track faculty position in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics beginning August 2014
This posting will be used to fill two positions within the Mathematical Sciences department .
Teach 12 hours of undergraduate mathematical science courses per semester, including evenings and perhaps on-line courses and courses in the freshman success program using multimedia and other technologies as needed; advise students; participate in course and program development and in scholarly and professional activities; perform university and community service; perform other duties as assigned by the Chair; and work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.
The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.

Doctorate in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics completed by August 1, 2014.
The successful candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills, experience teaching mathematics at the undergraduate level with evidence of effective teaching, knowledge of technology as it applies to mathematics courses, evidence of potential for continued scholarly activity, and broad interests in undergraduate education, including mentoring undergraduate research and recruitment and/or retention of students from underrepresented groups.
