The Earth and Physical Science Department at Western Oregon University invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor. We seek a broadly trained geoscientist with expertise in Geographic Information Systems. The successful candidate will be strongly committed to undergraduate teaching in the areas of GIScience, cartography, and remote sensing as part of a GIS minor and Earth Science major. In addition, our new colleague will enthusiastically teach introductory Earth system science courses to a diverse Liberal Arts student population. The candidate will also develop a research program that involves mentoring undergraduates and engage service contributions to the institution.
Qualifications: A Ph.D in a relevant discipline is required at the time of appointment. Demonstrated ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level in the areas of GIScience, cartography, and remote sensing as part of a GIS minor and Earth Science major, in addition to introductory Earth science courses is essential.
