Detailed Job Description

The Department of Psychology seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Developmental Psychology beginning in the Fall of 2012.
Teach 4 courses (12 hours) per semester; the teaching load will consist of such undergraduate courses as developmental research methods, senior thesis, social development, cognitive development, and introductory psychology. Other responsibilities include engaging in scholarly activities related to developmental psychology; advising students; performing departmental, college, and professional service; participating in course and program development; performing other duties as assigned by the chair.

Required Qualifications

Doctorate in Psychology, Human Development/Family Studies, Educational Psychology, School Psychologyor related field no later than June 1, 2012.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate completed by 12/01/2011. Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching undergraduate psychology courses such as developmental research methods, senior thesis, social development, cognitive development, and introductory psychology. Associated professional experience with recent published research in human development, education, and/or refereed psychology-related journals. Ability to involve students in research. Applicants with demonstrated experience in the recruitment and/or retention of underserved students, including students of color, preferred. Teaching experience with non-traditional students and ability to use appropriate educational technology. Demonstrated community engagement experience (e.g., outreach to K-12 schools, community partnerships, service learning, community engagement within your course content).
