Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, healthcare, and service, is seeking applicants for a tenure/tenure-track appointment at all ranks in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology, beginning Spring 2014. Parks College, founded in 1927, became an integral part of Saint Louis University in 1946. The college offers academic programs of excellence that integrate the education of the whole person, in the liberal and Jesuit traditions, with classroom and laboratory experiences in the major field of study. Laboratory coursework and undergraduate research are hallmarks of the student learning experience at Saint Louis University. The college offers ABET accredited bachelor's degree programs in Aerospace, Biomedical, Electrical, Computer, and Mechanical Engineering, and a new Civil Engineering program is undergoing ABET review. Graduate programs in engineering are also offered.
Successful candidates will have an earned doctorate in biomedical engineering or a closely related discipline and have the potential to develop externally funded research programs in an area closely related to our strengths in biomechanics, biomaterials, tissue engineering, rehabilitation engineering, biomedical instrumentation, and neural engineering. Exceptional candidates with other areas of expertise are encouraged to apply including those with interests in the application of technology to healthcare. Opportunities for collaboration exist with other research programs in engineering, science, SLU Health Sciences Center (medicine, nursing, and allied health), and Center for Emerging Technologies. The appointment is open to all ranks based on the candidate's qualifications. A doctorate in Biomedical Engineering, or closely related field, with strong research and teaching skills and publication commensurate with a Ph.D. program is required. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
